Mile High with Reverence

DSC00243 Mile High
Over 5,000 feet above sea level INVESCO field was filled with Steelers & Bronco fans that swarmed into town to support their team. As I patiently waited for the game to begin I didn’t know that a simple tribute to our soldiers would be so impactful. Just after a moment of silence I began to look up and see parachutes coming in from above. Initially this just appeared to be a tribute to our soldiers but then one last person parachuted in. This person was like none of the others. He was a soldier that was injured in Iraq. This soldier that was like no other was sent home missing two key components of his body, his legs. Through physical therapy and prosthetic legs he was afforded the opportunity to learn how to parachute. As he came into INVESCO Field with the air crisp and the crowd ready to cheer on its favorite teams everyone was just a little more appreciative of the blessings that we take for granted. As I sit back and reflect on all the small things that I am able to do without thought I give thanks to the millions of soldiers active, retired and deceased that made my freedom “free”.

With Thanksgiving around the corner take and opportunity to give thanks to those you love and remember those that you have lost who will remain in your heart.
