Handcrafted method requires use of very basic crafting and collage tools including a ruler, paper, cut out images, and glue. This method is best for small parties, and for making each Super Bowl ticket invitation completely unique.
The third method involves making one handcrafted Super Bowl party invitation that looks like a game ticket and then making color copies of that original handcrafted invitation.
The three methods are mentioned to show that anyone can make these Super Bowl party invitations that look like game tickets, even if you do not have fancy photo manipulation software.
How to Make Super Bowl Party Invitations Look Like Game Tickets
When you make the collage version of the Super Bowl party invitations that look like game tickets. You can either one individual, hand-crafted ticket for each invitee, if you are having a small party, or you can make one master copy and then have color copies made of the ticket. Any personalization can go on the back of the Super Bowl party ticket invitation.
This is a completely hand-made method of crafting Super Bowl party invitations that look like game tickets.
You will need the following materials:
card stock
magazine or public domain images of a football
bar code labels cut from cardboard boxes or printed out from the Internet
glue
clear laminate
ruler
pencil
Step One: Make the Ticket Grid or Template
Digital Method: If you are using photo imaging or graphic design software, make a new document that measures 2 x 5.5 inches. Then go to Step Two.
Handcrafted Method: Follow this step if you are going to making 100% handmade, individual ticket invitations. If you have a scanner and a printer, you can skip ahead to Step Two.
(See image 2 for an example)
One feature that will make the Super Bowl party invitations that look like game tickets look authentic is to make them the size of a standard event ticket, 2 inches x 5.5 inches.
Take a piece of card stock, a ruler and a pencil.
Place the card stock in front you horizontally. Using this method you can make eight Super Bowl party invitations that look like game tickets from one piece of paper.
Place the ruler in the middle of the paper, vertically, with the top of the ruler touching the top of the paper. At the two inch mark make a pencil mark. Simply put a dot or a small line. At the four inch mark make another pencil mark, and do the same for six inches and eight inches.
Move the ruler to the right hand side of the paper and do the same thing, marking the paper every two inches. Also do the same on the left hand side of the paper.
Tip: The reason to make three separate tic marks is to ensure that the lines you draw next will be straight and even.
Turn the ruler horizontally. Line it up with the first set of marks at the top of the page. Draw a light pencil line. Do the same for the rest of the two-inch marks. You should have a four horizontal lines.
The next step is to measure the width of the tickets.
Place the ruler horizontally on the paper between the first two horizontal lines and make a mark at 5.5 inches. Slide the ruler down and mark it again.
Turn the ruler vertically, and connect the dots, to make the width of the tickets.
Do the same from the other edge of the paper. When you do this, you leave an inch in the center of the paper that will not be used.
Connect the dots and draw the lines.
Now you can cut up the tickets from the paper and follow the instructions for hand-crafting Super Bowl party invitations that look like game tickets
Step Two: Collect the Images
The best way to make an authentic-looking Super Bowl party invitation that looks like a game ticket is to use an image related to the location of the current Super Bowl. If you look at tickets from the last couple of decades you can see how the tickets have evolved graphically to include the flavor of the location of the Super Bowl itself.
Use a public domain image web site to find a landscape photo of the current Super Bowl location. In this example, we are going to use Arizona.
Where to find public domain images of landscapes or local flavor:
American Memory at the Library of Congress, Memory.Loc.gov
ArtRenewal.org also has some public domain art images that can be used for background images.
PDPhoto.org
Digital Method: Copy any images you want onto your clipboard or your desktop
Handcrafted Method: Print out multiple copies of the images. Or print out different images to make each Super Bowl party invitation that looks like a game ticket look unique.
Size the images to fit onto the tickets.
Bar Code Labels
Another authentic element of the Super Bowl party invitation that looks like a game ticket is the barcode. Go to Barcodesinc.com to design your own free barcode. It is very easy and fast. In the example, the words “Super Bowl Party” were added to the “value” field at the Barcodesinc.com bar code generator web site.
You can further personalize the bar code by adding your name or any other information.
Digital Method: Copy and paste the barcode onto your digital ticket template.
Handcrafted Method: Print two barcodes for each ticket. Cut them out. Glue one to the top of each ticket on the ticket grid and one to the bottom.
Tip: Because it is so easy to make the barcodes, you could even personalize the Super Bowl party invitation that looks like a game ticket even further by adding the invitees name to one of the barcodes.
Also note that not all Super Bowl tickets have the bar code. If you don’t like the look of the barcode, you can skip this part.
Other optional images: pictures of footballs, regional images, food, or beer.
Assemble the Images
Digital Method: Add a background color to the ticket.
Handcrafted Method: Add a piece of construction paper or glossy paper that complements your regional image.
Digital Method: Next, copy and paste the regional image to the ticket.
Handcrafted Method: Use scissors to fit the regional image to the ticket. Repeat for each ticket.
Add the Text
Many of the recent Super Bowl tickets include the Super Bowl number in big, bold letters directly on top of the regional image. In some instances this portion of the ticket looks like a poster.
Digital Method: Create a text box and a bold font and type Super Bowl and the Super Bowl number. In the example, you will see the words “Super Bowl XLII.”
Handcrafted Method: You can write the words onto the ticket, or cut out words from printed material. The best way to approach the text for the handcrafted portion is to type up the words in a simple word processing program and print them out. Then cut them out with scissors and glue them onto the image.
Tip: It is up to you if you want to affix the official Super Bowl logo (which is a copyrighted image) to the ticket.
More text you can add to the ticket is fake seating information including gate, section, row and seat. You can assign f
ake numbers and letters to these elements.
You can also add real text about the party.
Real Party Information
As part of the Super Bowl party invitation, you will need to remember to add all of the real and relevant details related to the party. Before you begin crafting your Super Bowl party invitation tickets, make sure you know the time of the party, the location of the party.
Digital Method: Add a text box highlighting the date and time of the part, and the location of the party. Now print your Super Bowl party invitations that look like game tickets.
Handcrafted Method: Unless you have perfect handwriting, the best way to place the party details on the ticket is to type them up. Print out the party details, cut them out and glue them onto each ticket. Cut out your tickets from your ticket grid.
Tip: You can also use the entire front of the tickets for the fun graphics and save the back of the ticket for the pertinent Super Bowl party details.
Combined Method: For a sleeker handmade ticket, scan the final image or images and make color copies of the handmade Super Bowl party invitations to print out.
Professional Touch
One final touch that you can add to the Super Bowl party invitations that look like game tickets is to use clear laminate to protect the tickets.
