A Guide to Buying Women's Ice Hockey Skates
Top 5 Women’s Ice Hockey Skates
Written by Samantha Jean Lincoln
I absolutely love to ice skate and I have been an avid ice skater since the age of 5, which is when my mom bought my first pair of ice skates. These ice skates were for figure skating, I was upset and asked my mother why she did not get me hockey skates so I could play with my brother. Later that year my mother purchased some hockey skates for me, ever since then I have been warring hockey skates and playing hockey with the big boys!
When purchasing a pair of hockey skates keep in mind that a proper fit for these skates is 1-1.5 sizes smaller than your street shoes (except Mission brand). While trying on the hockey skates your toes should barely touch the toe cap with no more than a ¼ inch of space at the heal of the skate. After you have the skates on your feet, lace up the skates making sure that the hockey skates feel really snug with your foot resting flat on the foot bed. If you happen to be sizing children, use the same method while allowing ½ size extra for growing room. A poor fitting hockey skate can breakdown prematurely and the skater will form bad habits with their posture. So remember that choosing the right size hockey skate is very important and they will last longer. Below is a list of good performing hockey skates that range in price from very expensive to reasonable.
