2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final – Today 2:45pm EST

The day has come! It’s the day for the Women’s World Cup Final: USA vs Japan.  If you have been following this tournament, you have seen some incredible soccer.  There is no need to compare it to mens soccer except to say that it is just as exciting and the athleticism displayed has been world class.

The American women’s team played two amazing games defeating Brazil and then France to earn their championship game bid. Abby Wambach has had 2 header goals to get her team the ‘W’.  Just so cool to see.  As a former competitive soccer player myself, I know how difficult it is to achieve that and she just put her noggin out there and it paid off.  Wambach has been getting a lot of attention due to her amazing play but let’s not forget that soccer is a team sport.  Her teammates have all delivered including goalie Hope Solo, and should be proud of what they’ve achieved so far.

Tune in to ESPN at 2:45pmEST or online at ESPN3.com.  Don’t miss this game. It should be a good one!
